America

A quick little entry in passing because I’m running everywhere at the moment and I haven’t had time to sit back. Just to share a few pictures of the Kenzo fashion show with you I saw on Monday.

I was very moved because if there is one brand that appeals to me with its winter collections it’s Kenzo (yes, I don’t like their summer collections that much). Last year, I fell in love with this little flowery coat and the whole Russian atmosphere, the stitches, the boots… So I was high-spirited when I went to the jardin des tuileries despite the cold wind lashing my cheeks.

As these are the first fashion shows I’ve seen this year, I’m taking it all in and it starts from the entrance: streetstyle photographers waiting for their prey next to the room ( I was shot by three people but I didn’t even ask what it was for), the privileged ones for whom the red carpet is unrolled, the fashion show photographers cooped up behind fences, then the standing taking their place, etc… etc… My gorgeous invitation in one hand, I waited and waited…

I was so cold in my pink court shoes that I thought I’d lose my feet (I had no idea I’d wait for so long outside), and even once inside, it took me a good twenty minutes to warm up. As usual, I got close to the podium of photographers, found a nice man who agreed to let me sit in front of him (just for that, it’s important to wear a skirt) while the security guards were looking at me suspiciously. Alix joined me and we took one little space for two while waiting for the beginning.

The setting was impressive: big hay bales up to the ceiling, a sable catwalk, it was rather warm for a winter fashion show.

And the models came in, while they played music dating back to the beginning of the 70s: America - A horse with no name, Simon & Garfunkel - Mrs Robinson, etc… A super hippie atmosphere, the American desert, the girls wore big round sunglasses, warm colours, browns, very hippie dresses, I LOVED it! I’m not into bags, but you see here I could break down!

I would have enjoyed it better if a bitch hadn’t come and stopped in front of me, obstructing the view on most of the pictures. Even though I bared my teeth and tried to make her get lost she royally didn’t give a fuck about me: jungle so to speak!

I would have readily tripped her up when we got out but she had already cleared off…

I leave you with some pictures of my favourites figures :

And still more nice figures (actually I didn’t like much the second part of the show ;) )

Cacharel

On Saturday, I saw the Cacharel fashion show. I was more than happy, I’ve always loved the brand and its universe and seeing one of its shows had appealed to me for a while.

And yet, things had started out poorly: I left my flat in a bit of a hurry leaving my precious invitation on the table. I was stupid enough to take it out of my back to check the address before leaving and of course I forgot to put it back in it.

When I arrived place Vendôme, I wasn’t feeling quite so smart but I was praying that there should be a listing with my little name on it. And luckily there was one, I smiled again very quickly.

Then I hauled myself at the end of the catwalk to make friend with a photographer who let me sit in front of him, it’s sort of the ideal place to see a fashion show and especially to try and bring a few pictures back. But beware, it’s also war because one has to keep one’s place and prevent the pains who stand in front of you from obstructing the view ahead. Hopefully, the “real” photographers who “are here to work” saw to it for me. Alix was by my side, we kept low profile to go unnoticed and not risk being kicked out by the organizers. We waited a few more minutes in the dark, sitting directly in the ground, the music got louder, it was about to start…

And… I screwed up all my pictures, there you go, great! All overexposed, I’m disgusted, I still liked the figures, the cute coats, the liberty somewhat more “military”, the shoes (the liberty shoes yummy), the dresses and the pretty folds. My pictures are a bit messed up but it doesn’t matter, you live and learn :)

A little miu miu playsuit

birds

If there’s one thing I have a crush on this season, it’s the miu miu print. So when I saw this “very inspired” playsuit on a fashion editor in the backstage of a fashion show in London, I made up my mind not to leave without it. The deed was done the following day as this pretty little thing came from Miss Selfridges*. .

As it was seriously cold on Friday, I wore layers on top of my pretty playsuit and as a little dissatisfied granny said as she crossed the passage Jouffroy ‘had I known it wasn’t heated, I wouldn’t have come’. So you will unfortunately not see it very well on these pictures but it’s only just a matter of time. In the meantime, I leave you with some pictures of this wonderful place: the windows of shops selling miniatures, the secondhand booksellers and the glass roof filtering a beautiful light.

As for me, I still can’t grow tired of my beloved little flowery coat (Gap, bought 5 years ago) and of my briefcase in which I can put away everything as if it were Mary Poppins’s bag!
* While talking about Miss Selfridges, I’m desperately looking for the pair of white court shoes with bows displayed on the shoes home page on the website of the make (those worn with spotted socks). NO WAY to find them! Would anyone have a tip?

Yes, yes, I know, not many pictures in Paris lastly, but the rain, the wind and the cold often get the better of my will (and of Vianney’s too, let’s face it). That’s why the staircase of my building, which is not icky either all in all, serves more and more often as a little studio to show you my beloved outfits, so that there is a little Paris tinge (and a smell of pee due to the dog of the old woman next door, sadly) (but you don’t see that so it’s ok).

This time, I felt like wearing something a bit rock but girly and with bows, we’re still at Eleonore Bridge’s here, you’d have a stroke if I wore chains and rings with skulls, admit it!

London, what came next…

teacup

Yesterday, I gave you colour and cheerfulness. Today, we’re rather going to dabble into the weird… One of the fashion shows I have seen intrigued me a lot for several reasons.

First, because before the beginning of the show (Iris Van Herpen), I watched the crowd hurrying towards the precious “sittings” a lot and I saw something (or rather someone) very weird. > read more

London and its strange birds

dog

This week-end, with other little blogger friends , I went to London for the beginning of the fashion week, the shows of young creators. The sun, sweet cupcakes, crazy looks and cheerfulness were waiting for us, I brought back a few colourful pictures for you.

I am no great connoisseur when it comes to fashion, I haven’t been interested in it for long and I gradually discover its world. Apart from the Dyce Kayek fashion show two years ago, I have only been to very few fashion shows in my life, so I was very attentive, my ears pricked up, my eye always in the lense and I wasn’t disappointed.

When looking at the minutes of the shows on style.com or in magazines, I realize that we actually miss almost everything because we only focus on the clothes. I thought using the term “show” to describe fashion shows was rather pretentious but they fully deserve it. But I needed to see that by myself to really understand it, I think. The work on the mise en scène, the lighting, the music, the attitude of models, all this creates a coherent whole and is indeed a show in itself.

Yes, I’m a little novice, I know but you necessarily are one at some point :) Anyway… Every time, I squeezed through to the end of the catwalks to mingle with the photographers. Everyone defends his or her territory just as the sitting guests do, it’s quite funny to watch.  All the more so as I always managed to be rather well positioned despite the fact that I messed up all my pictures but shhhhhhh, I think nobody noticed.

In the end, I look at my pictures and I realize that I didn’t really look at the clothes, I focused more on the atmosphere. I hope these few pictures will give you a fair idea of what I saw (although I spoilt so many pictures you may not get to see much…)

Here are for today the pictures of a little afternoon tea organized during an exhibition of the fashion designer and performer “Johnny blue eyes” (I love this name, so funny!) For those (like me) who don’t know who the gentleman is, he worked with Beth Ditto, Lady Gaga or else The Scissor Sisters. You’re starting to understand, aren’t you? We’re starting easy with the atmosphere of the place, so British and peace and love (music: all you need is love by the Beatles).

And somewhat crazy people

Once this little snack eaten, the people exhibited in the four corners of the room gathered around Johnny blue eyes (I can’t grow tired of it), a kind of slightly crazy guru perched on golden high boots with a sparkling blue face and a microphone. They then all paraded with joy, cries and cheerfulness. The English really reinforce my idea that clothes are really made to have fun and that it is not worth taking oneself too seriously.
